There are a lot of reasons to travel through Missouri. When you’re planning your trip, consider adding a rodeo to your itinerary.

Missouri Rodeo Associations

Missouri has two primary rodeo associations that support rodeos in the state: Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association (MRCA) and Missouri Family Rodeo Association (MFRA). Both associations sanction rodeos and organize annual finals.

Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo

You won’t want to miss the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo in August. You'll see all the typical rodeo sporting events. Kids can even participate in mutton bustin’.

Beyond rodeo performances, you’ll enjoy concerts, a pageant, the Almost 5K - Cowboy Shuffle (Rodeo Fun Run), and the Sikeston Rodeo Parade.

Cattlemen Days Rodeo

Drawing its roots from 1973, the Cattlemen Days Rodeo occurs in August in Ashland. You’ll enjoy bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. After the rodeo performances, you’ll enjoy live music.

The Cattlemen Days Rodeo also hosts a Kiddy Roundup. Kids 12 and younger compete in stick horse barrel racing, roping, and barrel bull riding.

Ozark Empire PRCA Pro Rodeo

In March, you can check out the Ozark Empire PRCA Pro Rodeo. The Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) sanctions rodeos and holds finals annually. You can see professionals perform at the Ozark Empire PRCA Pro Rodeo.

American Royal Rodeos

The American Royal focuses on highlighting agriculture and food. It organizes agricultural events, like livestock shows. It also supports rodeo and equestrian sports. It hosts a PRCA rodeo, youth rodeo, and ranch rodeo in Kansas City.

In April, you can see the American Royal Youth Rodeo. You’ll see bull riding, bareback riding, several roping and tying events, pole bending, barrel racing, and more. The competitions are split by age between junior and senior events.

In May, you can see the American Royal Rodeo. This rodeo is sanctioned by the PRCA. You’ll see bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, barrel racing, bull riding, and breakaway roping. Kids can even participate in mutton bustin’.

In June, you can catch the American Royal Ranch Rodeo. Ranch rodeos are team competitions focused on ranch tasks. You can see stray gathering, team penning, trailer loading, and wild cow milking.
