In August, you can visit the Double JJ Resort to see the Wally Wojack Memorial Rodeo. The rodeo is sanctioned by the Mid-State Rodeo Association (MSRA), as well as the International Pro Rodeo Association (IPRA).
Wally Wojack Memorial Rodeo has eight main events. You’ll see bareback riding, bull and mini bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie down roping, saddle bronc riding, team roping, and break away roping. There will also be rodeo clown acts, a boot scramble for the kids, and pre-rodeo kids activities.
You won’t want to miss the Rodeo After-Party, held at the “Wagon Wheel” across from the grandstands. You can enjoy a BBQ roast in the beer tent, a cash bar, bonfire, live music, and yard games overlooking the lake. There’s something for everyone.
The Upper Peninsula Championship Rodeo is held in Iron River, Michigan. It’s the only PRCA sanctioned rodeo in Michigan, so you won’t want to miss it. The main performance will feature bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, bareback riding, team roping, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, and breakaway roping.
The U.P. Championship Rodeo has been running for over 50 years. It’s the oldest and proudest tradition in the area, with rich heritage and beautiful surroundings. With a weekend of rodeo excitement, it’s bound to be a “boot stompin’, roof raisin’ good time.” There will be a royalty contest, downtown market, a pancake breakfast, wild west parade, antique tractor show, and pre-performance entertainment.
The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) sanctions rodeos and hosts finals every year. The U.P Championship Rodeo is part of the Great Lakes ProRodeo Circuit. This circuit includes the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. After the PRCA season ends in October, each circuit has a year end Finals Rodeo. The winners of the finals are invited to compete at the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo in March.
The Mid-States Rodeo Association (MSRA) is based in Michigan, and sanctions rodeos throughout the midwest. It includes Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
MSRA rodeos have eight main events, including saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, bull riding, tie down roping, team roping, ladies barrel racing, steer wrestling, and ladies breakaway roping.
The Mid-States Finals Rodeo is held in Swanton, Ohio every October. There’s $63,000 in prize money at the finals, so it’s an exciting, high stakes event.
During the last week of July, you can go to the Monroe County Fair. There are lots of fun events going on all week, including a rodeo produced by the Lost Nation’s Rodeo company.
There’s also a demolition derby, tractor pull, monster truck shows, rides, games, a mobile zoo, and live music. It’s a fun event for the whole family.
The Annual Hughston’s Cow Camp Rodeo is held every year over Labor Day weekend. It’s held in McBain, Michigan, and is sanctioned by the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA). It was even named the IPRA Outdoor Rodeo of the Year.
There will be four total rodeo performances over the weekend. There will also be lots of fun family events, good food, a royalty contest, a cornhole tournament, and a chili cook off.
In June, you can see the Carney Roundup Rodeo. The rodeo raises money to maintain their facility, and benefit the youth in the community.
Carney Roundup Rodeo is part of the Big Horn Rodeo season. Big Horn Rodeo Co has rodeo events across the Upper Peninsula states from April through September.
Over Memorial Day weekend in May, you can see the Gladwin Ranch Rodeo. This is a traditional ranch rodeo, held at the Gladwin County Fairgrounds. The featured events include trailer loading, range doctoring, wild cow milking, ranch bronc riding, stampede racing, and bull riding. There’s lots of action, excitement, and family fun.
