Alabama Rodeos

Alabama has famous historical and scientific landmarks, beautiful beaches, lakes and rivers, and delicious southern food

Alabama also has rodeos that you can plan to see during your visit.

Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association (SPRA)

The Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association (SPRA) is part of the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA). All SPRA sanctioned rodeos are action packed and family friendly. The SPRA Finals Rodeo is held in March, in Philadelphia, Mississippi.

There are eight main events, including bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, team roping, cowgirls barrel racing, and bull riding. At each event, one champion is crowned the All-Around winner.

The SPRA sanctions rodeos in Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Be sure to check this year’s schedule to see which events are being held near you.

Annual William Arnold Memorial Rodeo

This rodeo is held at the end of September in Winfield, AL. It’s sanctioned by both the SPRA and IPRA.

Odenville Pro Rodeo

The Odenville Pro Rodeo is held in September at the St. Clair County Arena.

Lawrence County Cattleman’s Rodeo

In September, you can also visit Moulton, AL for another SPRA rodeo. The Lawrence County Cattleman’s Rodeo offers $1,000 in prize money, so there will be lots of excitement as cowboys compete to win.

Annual First Responders Rodeo

In October, you can see the First Responders Rodeo in Eutaw, AL. This is a brand new rodeo that you won’t want to miss.

Professional Cowboy Association (PCA)

The Professional Cowboy Association (PCA) is the top producer of actionpacked, exciting, and thrilling rodeos in the Southeast United States. The PCA was created over 17 years ago, and sanctions more than 100 rodeos a year, across eight states. Many of these rodeos are hosted across Alabama. Every PCA sanctioned rodeo is a major event, so make sure you plan one into your schedule.

The PCA rodeo season is 10 months long, ending with the Professional Cowboy Finals Rodeo (PCFR) in January. The finals are held along the Mississippi gulf coast, where cowboys and cowgirls will show off their skills to earn a share of the $150,000 prize.

Annual JCMF Professional Rodeo

The Annual JCMF Professional Rodeo is held at the beginning of August at the Robertsdale Arena. It’s a three-day rodeo, with eight exciting nightly events. There will be bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, break away roping, barrel racing, team roping, and bull riding. There will also be free children’s activities each night before the show. Thursday night is Hometown Heroes Night, with free admission for military and first responders.

The rodeo is hosted by the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation (JCMF). The proceeds from the rodeo help create sponsorship opportunities for the community. JCMF’s mission is to provide programs, services, and resources to Baldwin County communities and schools in order to support the social and emotional well-being of youth. You won’t want to miss this fun and exciting rodeo that helps support a good cause.

River Region Rodeo

The River Region Rodeo is full of family fun and entertainment. The main show brings 200 rodeo contestants to compete in eight exciting events.

The event is held over two nights in June, with extra activities for everyone to enjoy. Friday night is Kids and Family night, with children’s events, bounce houses, and games. Saturday is Music Night, and you get free admission to the concert with your rodeo ticket. There is also kids mutton busting and a best dressed cowboy/cowgirl competition on both days of the event.

The River Region Rodeo is hosted by the Prattville Rotary Club, and all proceeds go to charity. The rodeo is produced in partnership with Lonestar Rodeo Company, which brings championship caliber rodeos to the Alabama River region. Their shows are wholesome and professional, with a family friendly atmosphere. Lonestar is the nation’s oldest family produced rodeo, committed to supporting the community and honoring the nation’s roots through old fashioned rodeo. Proceeds from Lonestar Rodeos become grants and scholarships to benefit the community.

Auburn Rodeo

In April, you can see the Auburn Rodeo. It’s held at the Sistrunk Farms in Auburn Alabama. You won’t want to miss this classic western rodeo while you’re in town. It’s even been selected as a nominee for Fair/Rodeo of the Year by the Academy of Country Music.

Alabama Little Britches Rodeo Association (ALBRA)

The Alabama Little Britches Rodeo Association (ALBRA) gives youth in Alabama opportunities to participate in rodeo events. ALBRA is part of the National Little Britches Rodeo Association (NLBRA). Youth of all ages have the opportunity to qualify for the National Little Britches Finals Rodeo (NLBFR), held in Guthrie Oklahoma every July.

The ALBRA rodeo season begins August 1, and goes through the NLBFR in July. At each event, participants compete for national points, and jackpot prizes. Participants who place in the top six at six different rodeos qualify to compete in the NLBFR.

Age divisions range from ages 5 to 18. The divisions that youth can compete in are Trail Hands, Little Wranglers, Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Senior Boys, Senior Girls, JR Team Events, and SR Team Events. Each age division can participate in specific events appropriate to their age group.
